The weekend of March 23/24 our Pro-Life Ministry is introducing a program of prayer called “The Spiritual Adoption of an Unborn Baby”. Each parishioner is invited to make a personal commitment to pray daily for one unborn child who is in danger of abortion. We pray that this child will be carried to term and experience the fullness of life, as God intended for him or her.
This program of prayer will run from the Feast of the Annunciation, when Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, to Christmas Day, when He was born of the Virgin Mary. Our babies will mimic the same time frame that Jesus followed as He developed in His mother’s womb. We will each be able to follow the growth of our own spiritually adopted unborn baby through monthly updates in the bulletin.
To participate in this nine month charitable work towards the most vulnerable in our society today, the unborn, please take a prayer card from one of the volunteers after any Mass this weekend. After choosing a name for the child you will spiritually adopt and pray for, write the name on the slip of paper attached to the prayer card and place the slip in one of the baskets at the front or back of church. Keep the prayer card with you as it contains the prayer written by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen which is to be prayed daily. You may want to follow this prayer with a Hail Mary for the support of your baby’s parents. If you are not ready to decide today, please take the prayer card and slip home and bring the completed slip back here next weekend.
Please join with us in praying that the lives of many unborn babies currently in danger of being aborted will be spared and their mothers choose life for them. This is a wonderful opportunity to join together as a church community and participate with us either as an individual or a family. Thank you!
