For the last few months, despite limitations, parish renovation projects have been ongoing.
We have made major repairs to the Shrine in the parking lot. We’ve been cleaning and beautifying the grounds around the Church and Rectory. We’ve made improvements to the choir loft and finished up putting school mementoes into storage, to name just a few.
We have also been working out a plan to fix the water leakage in the lower church hall.
This project will be a major undertaking. Contractors will be installing sump pumps and piping to move the water away from the church. They will also do some work outside of the church to improve the drainage systems and make repairs to part of the foundation.
During the month of September work will be done in the downstairs church to remove and replace much of the flooring. The kitchen and other rooms will not be available during this time. In preparation for these projects we must move chairs, tables, and other items in the lower hall to a storage trailer we will be bringing to the church parking lot.
We will be looking for volunteers in the future to help carry these items from the basement to the trailer. Church services will not be affected by these projects, and the upper church will remain fully accessible. Some other renovation projects that are in the planning stages:
Renovation of the bathrooms
Installation of an elevator
Creating rooms for religious education classes
Installation of lights to illuminate the Trees of Life
Installation of lights around the steeple to illuminate the steeple at night.
Replace the wall and gate to the courtyard between the Church and the rectory.
Continue the installation of fencing along Ward Street between the driveways,
Trim the large tree in the Rectory parking lot.
All this is possible thanks to your continued support and donations to the
Building Renovation Fund and the
Legacy of Hope campaign, from which we will receive 40% of donations. May God bless you all for your generosity and sacrifices.
